Governance

In 2021 we formalised our DEI Policy, and in 2022, we established our DEI Group, which is responsible for providing strategic leadership in DEI and overseeing the implementation of our DEI strategy.

Actions

Through initiatives such as recruitment efforts that prioritise diversity, adopting inclusive policies and practices, promoting an inclusive culture, and establishing firmwide DEI governance we aim to cultivate a workforce that represents a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. We recognise there is more we and our industry can do; we are on a journey and we have a long way to go. Our focus is on culture and attracting and retaining talent.

We have reviewed and broadened our approach to recruitment, which has led to a stronger and more diverse pipeline of talent.

  • We partner with educational institutions internationally to reach interesting and diverse talent pools.
  • We work with executive search firms with expertise in diversity in senior positions. We ask for diversity in candidate shortlists for all positions and request blind CV’s from recruitment agencies where possible
  • Candidates are assessed on a number of key attributes, including the cognitive diversity they could add to the team.
  • Candidates are interviewed by a range of colleagues to help reduce hiring bias and encourage different perspectives.
  • Our benefits package and inclusion initiatives have been thoughtfully put together to promote a fair and equitable work environment, helping to attract talent and improve retention.

We have rolled out inclusion initiatives, which help to create fair opportunities and help to identify bias.

  • We enable flexible working across all areas of the business.
  • We offer inclusive family polices, which include enhanced maternity and paternity leave entitlements of 26 and 13 weeks, respectively. Over the past five years, all employees returned to work following their maternity leave, aided by flexible arrangements. The policy includes parents utilising adoption and surrogacy. • Inclusive Bereavement and Compassionate leave policy.
  • Career development opportunities are available to all employees. We encourage our staff to obtain the experience, training and qualifications necessary to develop professionally and personally. Recently, professional and academic qualifications gained by staff included the IMC, CFA Certificate in ESG Investing, ACCA, ICSA, CIPD and Executive MBA.
  • All staff undertake training on diversity and inclusion to increase awareness and improve communication, with respect to individual differences.
  • Wellbeing initiatives include Employee Assistance Program, mental health first aid support, mental health webinars, occupational health support, exercise and yoga classes.
  • Tailored Menopause plan and medical support.

In line with our core values, we regularly assess the effectiveness of our initiatives, implementing enhancements to address any issues identified.
